That would be the quality and flexibility of the video, the quality of the optical image stabilization, and the overall quality of the still pictures it takes. I didn't care about the GPS as it is largely a gimmick in my opinion and all the major competitors have it now or they feel they won't be able to compete.
You should realize that the GPS built into this camera (and most cameras) is NOT the same GPS you may be used to in your car or smart phone. It does not have detailed maps, does not have a large database of places or landmarks, and is not as accurate. It is basically for tagging your photos and videos with the latitude and longitude of where you took the image so you don't have to take notes manually to sort out what you shot and where later. We loved that camera, but it was getting beat up from a lot of travel and the flash was not firing as brightly as it had been. I wonder how long these flashes will last - for me it was about 3-4 years, but I am sure it depends on how many times you use it.
In any case, the newer model is nice, the 20x zoom works really work, and I found the image quality to be excellent for a small compact size camera. For serious photographers, the image quality will not compare to my mom's $1800 Canon SLR, which I borrow from time to time, but I would not expect it to. It is small, easy to put in a pocket, and has a really long zoom for such a small size. The image stabilization works well to help get clear pictures at full telephoto, and the scene modes do work pretty well as I have used the sunset and night photo ones a few times with some pretty impressive results. It does all that. I am not pleased however to discover that it evidently requires Lumix batteries because of a software change. My previous camera I had one Lumix and two generic batteries. This new one requires frequent charging and the high $ of Panasonic batteries make back ups less resonable. Plus it requires that you charge from the camera instead of an external charger (again hindering having a ready back up).
